Trade Policy
To maintain a high-quality selection for our readers, we kindly ask that all books brought in for trade be in gently used, clean condition. We cannot accept books with water damage, mold, strong odors (including smoke or pet smells), excessive wear, rips, stains, or missing pages. If you're unsure about a particular title, feel free to ask us!
To help us serve everyone efficiently, we ask that you bring no more than 2 grocery sized bags (or 1 tote sized bag or box) of books per visit. We evaluate each book based on its condition, our current demand, and our shelf inventory, so that we can maintain a high-quality, appealing selection for all our readers.
We also accept book donations and sincerely appreciate your generosity. To help us manage space and processing time, we kindly ask that donations be limited to no more than 5 boxes per visit. Please note that the same condition guidelines apply to donated books—we’re grateful for your support and ask that donations be clean and in good shape, as we’re unable to rehome books that are overly worn or damaged.
We appreciate your support—your gently used books help sustain our local bookstore and community events.
Please note we reserve the right to decline incomplete or damaged items.
Books, Comics and Magazines
We’re happy to offer store credit for gently used books that meet our condition guidelines. All books must be clean and in good condition—no mold, water damage, smoke or pet odors, excessive wear, or missing pages. (See our full Book Condition Guidelines above.)
Store Credit: We offer 25% of our resale price in store credit, which can be used with any purchase unless specifically stated otherwise. Store credit will expire after 2 years.
Mass Market Paperbacks
Mass market paperbacks are not eligible for cash, but we do offer store credit for trades.
$1 per book in store credit
While we do not offer cash for every book, some titles may qualify based on condition, demand, and our current inventory needs. When a cash offer is made, it will typically be 10% of our resale price. However, collectible editions, high-demand genres, or notable authors may receive a higher offer. Cash trade-ins are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, so feel free to ask if you’re bringing something special!
High-Demand Titles: At times, we may pay above our standard rates for books we’re actively seeking. We’ll occasionally publish a list in-store or online of high-interest authors, genres, or titles.
Weekly Trade Specials: We love to switch things up! Keep an eye out for trade specials where featured genres, series, or authors may earn you bonus store credit or exclusive perks.
Games and Movies
We now accept select games, video games, and DVDs/Blu-rays for store credit only (no cash payouts).
Store Credit Only: 25% of our resale price
Requirements:
All discs must be unscratched and in working condition
Original cases are strongly preferred
Board and card games must include all original pieces
